Erasure

Share this video Enough to make any serious Mason sad - the erasure of a lodge. This procedure dates back to the 18th century. It was applied under various circumstances. If a lodge was unable to operate, because it had less than five members, it was subject to erasure or being closed, that is. A lodge which has not met for a year, could be considered for erasure. But, happily, this was sometimes delayed for a few years. Irregular conduct within a lodge will bring about erasure by a Grand Lodge. In the 1700s many lodges suffered erasure for failing to make contributions to the Hall Fund. The warrants of lodges which were erased, were passed on to new lodges. Our efforts today are directed towards the prevention, of the disappearance of lodges.
