The Regius Manuscript
The regius manuscript was presented to the british museum by King George the 2nd in 1757. At that time was not regarded as relevant to freemasonry. Published for the first time in 1840 by J.O. Halliwell who was not a mason, connected it with freemasonry thus it is also known as the halliwell manuscript. It is regarded as a link between operative and speculative masonry as many of the ideas, words and phrases are reflected in todays ritual and traditions. The regius poem provided us with the traditional history and contains 15 articles and 15 points outlining the relationships and obligations of masters to the masons as well as the obligations the masons owed to each other.
